Le pilote italien Sauro Pazzaglia est tombé durant les essais des 250. Souffrant de graves fractures du crâne, il est décédé le lundi à l'höpital de Bologne.

● Comme attendu; Ricardo Tormo Blaya est champion du Monde des 50cc.
● La 250 Pernod obtient ses premiers points (c'est son troisième GP).
● Atteint comme sa femme Pam et son fils Kenny Junior d'une sévère intoxication alimentaire, Kenny Roberts doit declarer forfait juste avant la course.
